Mid-Year Book Freakout 2019

Hi everyone! Sorry for the radio silence I was on vacation and let this blog slip due to poor internet connection.

But I am back and decided that there was no better way to begin posting again then with this Mid-Year Book Freakout Tag that everyone is doing.

1. The Best Book of the Year So Far

Wow. That’s a loaded one. I feel like I have read many great books so far this year but I am probably going to have to go with Daisy Jones & The Six. It was so good and I read the entire book on my flight because I could not put it down.

2. Best Sequel of the Year So Far

I only read two this year, Scarlet and the The Wicked King, and I have to say that I enjoyed The Wicked King a lot more than I did Scarlet, hands down.

3. A New Release You Haven’t Read Yet But Want To

All of Us with Wings by Michelle Ruiz Keil. I actually was able to pick this one up at the library recently and cannot wait to get started.

4. Most Anticipated Release for Autumn/Winter

Gods of Jade and Shadow by Silvia Moreno-Garcia. I’ve fallen in love with her writing earlier this year and pre ordered this book as soon as I read what it was about. I am on the edge of my sitting as I await this one.

5. Your Biggest Disappointment of the Year So Far

There’s been a couple. I had to DNF like three books this year, but I think that the one that disappointmented me the most was The Matchmakers List and you can read why over at this post over here.

6. Your Biggest Surprise of the Year So Far

Stalking Jack The Ripper. I had heard of this book/series but never picked it up but then I joined Howling Libraries #stalkalong and I was surprised by how much I enjoyed this novel. Can’t wait to read the next book in the series in July.

7. New Favourite Author

I have to two actually! Silvia Moreno-Garcia and Guadalupe Garcia McCall.

8. Your Newest Favourite Character

Daisy Jones from Daisy Jones & The Six.

9. Your Newest Fictional Crush

Sebastian from Signal to Noise.

10. A Book that Has Made You Cry

There are actually two books that made me cry so far, they are The Sun is Also A Star and Under the Mesquite.

11. A Book that Has Made You Happy

Prime Meridian by Silvia Moreno-Garcia, that ending was just everything I wanted. I was smiling so much when I finished it.

12. The Most Beautiful Book of the Year So Far

The Poppy War. I immensely enjoyed everything about this book; the world that this story took place in, the things that Rin endured and transformed into; it was all one hell of a ride and I can not wait to read the next installment to this thrilling story.

13. Some Books You Need to Read Before 2019 Ends

The Seven Husbands Of Evelyn Hugo (I know I am very late on this one), Not Even Bones, Erotic stories For Punjabi Widows, The Queen of Nothing.

No on tagged me so if you want to do this, go for it and tag me back so I can read your responses.

’til next time!
