November / Skinsathon Wrap Up

November is over and the last month of this decade has begun! For the month of November I only read for Skinsathon, which thank you again to Whitney for putting this readathon together. The prompts and challenges were great. So here are the things I read this November.

For Skinsathon I really tried to read for each and every prompt, doubling up on books that could fit on more than one and out of the 30 prompts I completed 26. Not bad at all so here are the books I read.

  • Before The Devil Break You I absolutely adore all the characters from The Diviners series and I can not wait to get my hands on The King of Crows in February. The stakes are higher and danger is lurking around every corner for the diviners and I am on the edge of my seat to find out the fate of these characters that I have grown attached to.
  • The Best Lies This book had been sitting on my TBR for quite a while and I have no idea why I didn’t pick it up sooner. I do have to admit that there were times that I felt that the story was being dragged out more than it should’ve but looking back it served a great purpose to the story. It helped you see this relationship blossom from something that seemed to be good to something all other together more frightening. I loved that subtle build up to the moment of when it all boils over. Forewarning that it does have material that some might find triggering, if you want more information do feel free to contact me.
  • Bonds of Brass This was an eARC from Netgalley and I just have to say that I enjoyed the ride this book took me on. A full review will come closer to its release date in April.
  • Nocturna This was the book of the month for Pages & Prose during October but I was unable to obtain it on time and decided to read it in November. The world that this book creates is just magical and the slow burn!! oh the slow burn!! I look forward to reading Oculta next year to see what else this worlds brings.
  • Love from A to Z One of the prompts for the readathon was to read a romance and MeowPoff had also asked if I wanted to buddy read a book and this was one of the books we both had on our TBR’s so I was so excited to get this one started. I fell in love with both Zayneb and Adam. I could relate to both of them and their struggled and their triumphs. Even if romance isn’t your thing, like me, I totally recommend giving this book a go as it’s about more than just romance.
  • Coraline This movie is one of my all time favorite movies and I had never read the book before and wow am I glad I did. The movie seemed to have followed the book pretty much to the T, except for a few minor changes. I absolutely enjoyed the atmosphere of the book and Coraline’s journey to save her parents just as much in novel form.
  • New Suns This collection of speculative fiction by people of color is beautiful and enticing with each short story. I enjoyed seeing what each author came up with and was just blown away with every paragraph.
  • Untamed Shore Silvia Moreno-Garcia is an author that I discovered earlier this year and I hastily consumed every piece of her writing that I could get my hands on. I was ecstatic when NetGalley approved my request for her thriller that is coming out early next year. Full review coming soon.
  • The Bone Witch I didn’t love this book but I also didn’t hate it. The world building took up so much of the story that I felt myself pushing myself more to see what her main goal was in those snippets of interview before each chapter. Don’t get me wrong I love world building but sometimes I just felt like the chapters were a bit slow. The ending was amazing as I did predict some things but one twist at the end I did not. I definitely will pick up the next book in the series sometime next year to see what comes from this all.
  • We Are Okay One of the prompts was to re read a favorite and We Are Okay is a book I read every winter since discovering it three years ago. It’s one of those stories that just stuck with me.

What did you read this November? Have you read any of the books I did? What did you think of them?

As always, thanks for stopping by!
